OLD TESTAMENT WORSHIP & ITS PROPHETIC UTTERANCE

 SECTION 1- HISTORY OF BIBLICAL WORSHIP

  1. Creation/Man’s relationship w/ God
    1. Man’s creation-Genesis 1:26-27; 2:7, 20-25
    2. The fall of man- Genesis 3: 1-19
    3. Expulsion from the Garden- Gen. 3:20- 2
  2. Calling on the Name of God & Offerings
    1. Offerings- Cain & Abel – Gen. 4: 1-7
    2. Genesis 4:25-26
    3. Many walked w/ God- Enoch- Gen. 5:22, 24 Noah- Gen. 6: 8 & 9, Abraham- James 2:23; 2 Chron. 20:7 ; Isaiah 41:8 ; Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David, Samuel, all the prophets, Solomon, etc
  3. Building Altars & God’s Covenant a. Genesis 8:20-22 – Noah b. Genesis 12:7- Abram – God’s Covenant Gen. 12: 1-3      c. Genesis 26:25 – Isaac /God’s covenant- v. 24

SECTION 2- THE TABERNACLE OF MOSES

  1. God’s brings the children of Israel out of Egypt for one thing- worship   a. Exodus 5:1  Afterward Moses and Aaron went in and told Pharaoh, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel:

Let My people go , that they may hold a feast to Me in                                     the wilderness.’”   b. Exodus 7:16 (ref. worship)      And you shall say to him, ‘The Lord God of the Hebrews has sent me to you, saying,

“ Let My people go, that they may serve Me in the wilderness”   c. Exodus 8:1        And the Lord spoke to Moses, “ Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord:

Let My people go, that they may serve Me.   d. Exodus 8:8      Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, “Entreat the Lord that He may take

away the frogs from me and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may

sacrifice to the Lord.”    e. Exodus 8:20       And the Lord said to Moses, “Rise early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh as he

comes out to the water. Then say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord:                           “Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

  1. God’s desire for His people/The reason the Tabernacle was erected:  a. To dwell among His People – Exodus 25: 8
  2. The pattern for the Tabernacle:  a. God gives Moses the plan for the sanctuary in the tabernacle. – Exodus 24, 25:9, 40/   Ex. 26: 30/ Numb. 8
  3. b.  Specific attributes that God spoke of as part of the Tabernacle – Exodus 25 -30

 SECTION 3- THE FULFILLMENT IN JESUS CHRIST

  1. The Copy & Shadow: a. The copy & pattern vital Hebrews 8: 1- 5/ Ex. 25:9, 40 b. The copy null & void when the fulfillment came- Hebrews 8: 13 – Heb. 9        c. Jesus opened the way to fellowship w/ God- Heb. 10:19- 22/ Heb. 4: 14-16
