A Paradigm of Musical Purpose for People of Faith That Will Change the Way You Look at Your Calling

As a person of faith and a worshiper of Jesus, who creates music, my world has been rocked and turned upside down of late by the teachings of Ray Hughes. If you are searching to find your musical “voice”, mission or purpose, or a songwriter searching for true north in that calling, these videos are for you!!!

When Men Despise Your Worship

Many believe the woman who entered the room was Mary, the sister of Lazarus. The account in John 12 identifies her as such. The other Gospel accounts don’t mention her name and it says they were at the home of Simon the leper. Details for a scholar most likely, but our focus is not the who or the where but the what.

The Church is Alive & Well!

My hope was renewed today as I looked out over a congregation of believers from the choir loft! “What Love is This”, by Kari Jobe had just been ministered by our Performing Arts department and I’d venture to say there wasn’t a dry eye in the house, including mine. I pondered the morning’s events in my heart. This was my first time singing in choir in over two years. My body was racked with pain as I debated staying home. I had even texted our Worship Ministry leaders to let them know I was not going to make it.

Identity in Christ; It’s More Than Security, It’s Ownership!

Why do we allow what has happened to us to become our identity? We drown in the failure of others to affirm or love us as we constantly struggle with the truth that we are loved and accepted by God. Unable to assimilate that His approval is the only approval that matters.

We let our past, our failures and mistakes dictate our present and future and they drown out the voice of our Father who has called us His, called us Separate, called us Out!

Why do we still struggle with our identity when the truth of His Word is constantly available to us???? Why do  we still fail to hear our Father’s affirmation?

The Lie That Steals Our Beauty

*{The term “man” or “men” in this article refers to mankind=men & women unless otherwise specified}**********************************************************************

Do you know we have been fed a LIE? Not just any lie, but THE LIE. And that LIE has stripped us of our value to the lowest common denominator. Common is the operative word here. We have all made ourselves common to try and escape the question that rages inside of us. Who am I and what is my value? We have relegated our uniqueness to commonality so that no one feels less than anyone else and in doing so we all feel less than who we are created to be.

Keeping the Main Thing, the Main Thing

The day was marked in time. The moment planned from the foundation of the world. “Behold, the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world!” John’s words rang from eternity and into the hearing of all those surrounding his revelation of Jesus Christ at the Jordan. [John 1: 29-32]

The Power of Music!

It’s been said, music is the universal language. I don’t know who coined the phrase, but it appears to carry a lot of truth! Artists can travel around the world singing to those who don’t speak their language and still be just as powerful as they are in their native land. Why? Because song has power!

VOICES

“My God’s not dead, He’s surely alive. He’s living on the inside roaring like a lion.”

This was a song written by Daniel Bashta made popular by David Crowder Band and Newsboys. A song of revival and spiritual revolution.

When I think about all the revolutions in the earth and our country, they started with a voice! A declaration of sorts.
